Bruce R. Brockbank Jr.

“Everything that Bruce does, he does the right way.” 1

Bruce Brockbank has been a recipient of fond opinion and high praise from the BYU Director of Golf, Todd Miller, and many others. Brockbank’s sportsmanship, integrity, and ability to mentor and connect with others has led him to be well-regarded throughout the
golfing community.

“Bruce is revered in the college golf world and has represented BYU with class and character. He is a remarkable ambassador for everything BYU stands for,” said Brian Santiago, BYU Director of Athletics. 2 This universal admiration is evident in Brockbank’s golfing career, which is peppered with awards, victories, and lifelong friends.

Brockbank is a long-time golfer. His career with the BYU Men’s Golf program lasted 41 years, beginning when he was a student athlete in 1985 and ending in 2026 with him retiring from his position as the head coach. He pursued both sportsmanship and scholarship throughout his life, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in recreation management in 1990 and going on to obtain his master’s degree in that same subject in 1992.

Brockbank led the men’s golf team to 61 tournament wins in 31 seasons, coached 25 All-American Players, and received the GCAA District VII Coach of the Year award four times.

While everyone in the program will miss Brockbank following his retirement, he has set BYU Men’s Golf up for success for many years to come.
