Paul W. Lambert
Dr. Paul W. Lambert is the Religion and Human Flourishing Initiative director at Brigham Young University’s Wheatley Institute and an affiliate faculty member at the BYU Marriott School of Business. An expert on religious pluralism and its impact on society, economics, and business, Lambert works with major global companies—including American Airlines, Accenture, Deloitte, Equinix, ServiceNow, and Walmart—to help leaders understand the value of faith in the workplace and build cultures where diverse beliefs can thrive. Through his consulting practice, Paul Lambert Consulting, he also advises organizations on higher-education strategy, executive education, and First Amendment issues.
Lambert’s commitment to integrating faith and work started early in his career and continues to guide him today. “My faith in Christ is my greatest strength at all times, and in all things, and in all places,” he says. He aims to shift the perception that faith and professional life should be separate, teaching students and business leaders alike that “the inclusion of religion and faith—and our living that faith—is the key ingredient. It is the antidote to the challenges we face in every aspect of our lives—at home, in our communities, in our workplace, in our nation, and in our world.”1
Prior to his current roles, Lambert was assistant dean at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business, where he managed consulting and business education programs for corporate and university partners. Earlier, at the National Defense University in Washington, DC, he was professor and lead academic officer for a Department of Defense and Department of State American Studies graduate program with students from over 75 countries. His leadership and teaching earned him the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Joint Meritorious Civilian Service Award, the highest honor for civilian service from the chairman.
Lambert has held teaching and leadership roles at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University and created the Freedom Forum Institute’s first executive education program for business leaders focused on religious freedom. He also serves on the boards of the Religious Freedom & Business Foundation, the One America Movement, and the national advisory council for Cicero Group.
Originally from Paradise Valley, Arizona, Lambert earned his bachelor’s degree in American studies, business, and Spanish from Brigham Young University, a master’s in international relations from the Fletcher School at Tufts University, and his doctorate in liberal studies from Georgetown University. He is also an alumnus of MIT Seminar XXI Fellowship Program on foreign affairs and national security.
He and his wife, Joelle, have three children. A returned missionary of the Chile Concepción Mission, Lambert has served as a mission leader, bishop, stake presidency member, and youth Sunday School teacher. In every setting, he strives to center his life on Christ.
