Rebecca K. Hunter
Associate Dean of the BYU McKay School of Education.
Dr. Rebecca K. Hunter spent her formative student years in Utah, beginning with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the University of Utah and a master’s degree in public administration from Brigham Young University. She later returned to the University of Utah, where she completed a PhD in educational leadership and policy.
Hunter spent more than ten years working as an educator in public schools before joining the Department of Teacher Education at BYU. Throughout her years working in education, Hunter’s research and various professional endeavors have consistently centered on teacher experience and development. She has taught courses in instructional planning and assessment, classroom management, and elementary social studies. Within the McKay School of Education, she seeks “a deeper understanding of belonging,”1 and her scholarship explores the impact that the gospel of Jesus Christ has on connection and leadership.
