Sean R. Dixon
Second Counselor in the Young Men General Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Sean Romney Dixon was born on May 5, 1970, in Provo, Utah. From an early age, Brother Dixon demonstrated a commitment to the teachings and doctrines of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter‑day Saints. Reflecting on how he gained a testimony of the Book of Mormon at 14 years old, he says, “That was absolutely life-changing; after that, the gospel became real and alive for me.”
After graduating from high school, he served as a full‑time missionary in the Canada Toronto Mission, where he taught in both English and Spanish, forging lifelong friendships and strengthening his ability to minister across cultures.
He later attended Brigham Young University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in family science. It was at BYU that he met M’Shelle Lundquist on the first day of class while waiting in line for parking permits. The two were married in the Salt Lake Temple on May 14, 1992, and together they have raised five children.
Brother Dixon devoted more than three decades serving as a seminary teacher and administrator. He spent many years teaching in Utah County and later became director of the Utah Valley Institute of Religion. In his most recent Church Educational System assignment, before his general Church callings, he served as director of the Utah South Institute Region, overseeing Institutes of Religion from Orem to St. George.
Brother Dixon has served in a wide range of leadership roles including bishop, ward Young Men president, stake presidency counselor, and stake president of the Spanish Fork Utah East Stake. From 2016 to 2019, he served as president of the California Redlands Mission, where he and his wife oversaw missionary work and ministered to members throughout the mission.
In April 2025, Brother Dixon was sustained as Second Counselor in the Young Men General Presidency of the Church. In this role, he and the presidency have been advancing the Church’s efforts to strengthen young men worldwide through mentorship, gospel instruction, and service.
Brother Dixon has emphasized the importance of keeping Jesus Christ the focus of all our efforts. As a teenager, he struggled with perfectionism and the idea that loving the Savior meant he had to be the perfect disciple. With the help of his father, he realized the importance of focusing on Christ rather than himself. He says, “One key at that age is to begin a relationship with Heavenly Father through prayer, so that your prayers are not about checking a box or going through a routine, but they are more about building a relationship.”
As a General Authority Seventy and leader within the Young Men organization, Brother Dixon has emphasized the importance of helping youth “look up to God”1 and listen for the Spirit amid the many competing voices of the world.
