Tonya H. Fischio
Tonya H. Fischio is the assistant dean of communications for the College of Life Sciences at BYU. In her role, she shares stories of BYU students and faculty who blend faith with science to enhance scholarship and create solutions for issues around the world. She serves as executive editor of the college alumni magazine and directs the communications strategy for the College of Life Sciences, fostering connections with donors and alumni. She also serves on various university committees, including the BYU Alumni Board, Web Advisory Committee, Campus Communicators Committee, and Social Media Committee.
With over 20 years working at BYU, Fischio has served in several different positions. At the BYU Family Studies Center, she served as communications manager, developing media relations campaigns and assisting in event planning. Then at BYU Law School, she was the director of marketing and communications, managing social media strategy, digital marketing, and video production. Before her tenure at BYU, she was at Nu Skin International in crisis communications, media relations, and investor relations. She holds a bachelor’s degree in communications with an emphasis in public relations from BYU.
Fischio has also volunteered as vice chair of the Board of Trustees for the Ronald Reagan Academy and served on the Board of Advisors for Southern Utah University College of Performing and Visual Arts, supporting fundraising for student scholarships and learning opportunities.
