Wade J. Hollingshaus
Wade J. Hollingshaus is the chair of the BYU Theatre and Media Arts Department, where he also teaches critical studies courses related to theatre and performance. In addition, he is affiliated with BYU’s Scandinavian studies program and a member of BYU’s European Studies Committee of the Whole. For 2016–2018 he will be serving as a BYU Alcuin general education fellow, teaching a course in the Unexpected Connections series.
After attending Ricks College for one year and serving a full-time mission in Helsinki, Finland, Professor Hollingshaus received a bachelor of arts degree in theatre education from BYU and taught junior high school theatre before pursuing graduate studies. He holds a master’s degree in Scandinavian studies from the University of Washington and a PhD in theatre historiography and performance studies from the University of Minnesota. He is the author of Philosophizing Rock Performance: Dylan, Hendrix, Bowie (2013) and is currently working on a new book project on Peter Gabriel and theatricality.
He and his wife, Jennine, are the parents of five children.
