Cecilia M. Peek is an associate professor of classics and ancient history in the Department of Humanities, Classics, and Comparative Literature. Her research interests include Hellenistic history, with particular emphasis on Ptolemaic Egypt, especially Cleopatra VII; Roman imperial history; classical historiography; and early Christian history.
Professor Peek teaches courses in Latin and Greek prose literature, Greek and Roman history, classical literature (in translation), and classical civilization.
She earned a BA in classics with a minor in German from BYU and an MA and PhD in ancient history and Mediterranean archaeology from the University of California at Berkeley.
Professor Peek and her husband, Ken, have four children. She enjoys reading, chocolate, walking, and more chocolate.
