Dee F. Andersen was born on April 9, 1931, in Ogden, Utah. He married Frances Nicholas in January 1951, and they had seven children together. After receiving a degree in accounting from Utah State University, Andersen served during the Korean War and then started his career in business. Andersen worked as the controller of the University of Utah and later was the university’s administrative vice president.
In 1970, Andersen accepted the position of associate commissioner of education for the Church Educational System, where he worked with the First Presidency and Presiding Bishopric. He later served as administrative vice president at BYU, where he received the BYU Presidential Citation for Exemplary Service in 1994.
After Andersen’s retirement, he and his wife served as mission leaders for the Hawaii Honolulu Mission, as president and matron at the Mount Timpanogos Utah Temple, and as couple missionaries in the Ohio Cleveland Mission.
Dee F. Andersen passed away on June 27, 2014, at the age of 83.
