Born in Provo, Utah, on June 27, 1960, Sister Dennis moved across the United States throughout her childhood due to her father’s work, living in Mississippi, Tennessee, Iowa, and Nebraska before returning to Utah. She pursued studies in elementary education and Spanish at Brigham Young University, experiences that would later complement her service in many capacities. While on a cultural trip to Hermosillo, Mexico, with the BYU Spanish Department, she met her future husband, Jorge Dennis. Two years later, in 1980, they were married. Several months later, they returned to Mexico, where their first son was born. They now have four children and several grandchildren.
From 2013 to 2016, Sister Dennis served as a mission leader with her husband in the Ecuador Guayaquil West Mission. They returned a year later to serve in the Guayaquil Ecuador Temple, where Sister Dennis served as assistant to the matron. She has served in many other roles, including stake Relief Society secretary, ward Primary president, ward Relief Society and Young Women counselor, Relief Society teacher, and temple ordinance worker. At the time of her call to the Relief Society General Presidency, Sister Dennis was serving on the Primary general advisory council.
