Dr. Lynn E. Garner is a native of southwestern Idaho. He began his undergraduate studies at the California Institute of Technology and completed his bachelor’s degree at BYU. After completing his master’s degree at the University of Utah, he began doctoral studies at Cornell and earned his PhD from the University of Oregon.
Professor Garner has been on the BYU mathematics faculty since 1968. He has served on various university committees, including as chair of the Faculty General Education Council. In addition to several technical papers, he has published a projective geometry book and a traditional calculus textbook.
Brother Garner’s Church work has included many youth leadership callings and two stints on high councils. He has served as a branch president at the MTC and three times as a bishop, once in a campus ward and twice in his home ward.
Dr. Garner is married to his high school sweetheart, Kaye Waite. He enjoys birding, chess, and stamp collecting.
