Michael P. Thompson is an associate dean at the Marriott School and the director of the undergraduate programs office. He has taught graduate courses in management communication, leadership, and knowledge management.
Before joining the faculty at BYU he was executive director of the Public Service Training Program for the State of New York. He has also been executive director of the Center for Organization and Policy Studies at the State University of New York at Albany.
In 1988 he joined the faculty in the Marriott School. In addition to his publications in academic and practitioner journals, he is coauthor of Becoming a Master Manager, a management textbook used in many MBA programs.
Michael has consulted and conducted research with many global and regional companies, including Johnson Controls, AT&T, the U.S. Air Force, and Ford Motor Company, as well as many public and nonprofit institutions. In 1996 he received the Marriott School’s Outstanding Teacher Award.
Michael and his wife, Jennifer Polley Thompson, are the parents of five children.
