Susan Easton Black joined the faculty of Brigham Young University in 1978 after receiving a doctorate from BYU in educational psychology. She served as a professor of Church history and doctrine and an associate dean of General Education and Honors.
Dr. Black received the Karl G. Maeser Distinguished Teaching Award in 1991. She has authored, edited, and compiled over 90 books and as many articles.
She was married to Harvey B. Black, who was a professor at BYU prior to his death. In 2013 she married George Durrant, and they later served as missionaries in the Nauvoo Illinois Temple and then several church service historical missions.
