David W. Kastner spoke as the representative of his student class at BYU commencement in April 2019.
Kastner earned his bachelor’s degree in biophysics with honors from BYU. While at BYU, he worked at the Simmons Center for Cancer Research and at the Huntsman Cancer Institute. After graduation, he worked as a full-time biologist at the Huntsman Cancer Institute studying genetically-engineered cancer mouse models. Kastner became a bioengineering PhD student at Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2020.
