Thomas J. Stone spoke as a representative of his student body at commencement on April 27, 2017. Stone studied economics at BYU, graduating magna cum laude. He also served a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Mexico from 2012 to 2014. He earned his master of business administration from Stanford University in 2023. Additionally, he is the cofounder and a board member of Aspiring Leaders Pursuing Higher Achievement, a nonprofit that provides resources for disadvantaged students to excel in academics.
